In the run up to the May 2021 Senedd elections, Unchecked UK and hundreds of our supporters asked Senedd candidates from all political parties to pledge their support for strong Welsh standards. With the elections over, this part of our campaign has come to a close. Now we’re building on its success and continuing to put pressure on politicians to make sure Welsh food, Welsh workplaces and the Welsh environment are safe and well-protected.

On this page who can see who signed the pledge and what people across Wales told us about why they value strong protections.

Join the campaign for updates, and to hear about more ways to get involved.

Gavin Chambers, Welsh Conservatives: “I pledge because, as a Conservative, I value the rules which keep Wales running, and will continue to champion high standards across public life.”

Mike Hedges, Welsh Labour: “I pledge because I am totally opposed to the weakening of vital public protections. What some call ‘red tape’ I call keeping all of us safe.”

Megan Lloyd, Wales Green Party: “The Wales Green Party knows that the way we build back after the devastating impact of COVID-19 is by listening to communities, to ensure they feel safe and well-protected. This means looking to the food we eat to ensure it is of the highest possible standard, whilst protecting our environment, and standing up proudly for the rights of workers. This is how we build a secure future for Wales.”
