The UK Statistics Authority (UKSA) helps the UK make better decisions and supports people to hold the government to account by safeguarding the production of statistics that serve the public good. It informs the public about social and economic matters, assists in the development and evaluation of public policy, and challenges the misuse of statistics. It was established by the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007. Its remit covers the three main elements of the UK’s statistics system – the Government Statistical Service, Office for National Statistics (see above), and the Office for Statistics Regulation.
